Abstract

In the evolving landscape of the global food service industry, cloud kitchens also known as virtual, ghost, or dark kitchens have emerged as a disruptive and transformative model. These delivery-only culinary ventures eliminate the need for dine-in spaces, dramatically reducing overhead costs and enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to enter the market with minimal capital. This paper examines the rise of cloud kitchens as a nexus of digital entrepreneurship and vocational skill development, particularly within the context of India’s gig economy and post-pandemic workforce transformation. It highlights operational dynamics, economic implications, digital infrastructure, and educational integration of cloud kitchens, while addressing policy frameworks and future trajectories.
