Abstract

Cloud bursts in Himachal Pradesh have emerged as a significant environmental challenge, causing catastrophic impacts on local communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Characterized by intense rainfall over a short period, cloud bursts lead to flash floods, landslides, and widespread destruction. This paper explores the multifaceted consequences of cloud bursts, focusing on the immediate and long-term effects on affected populations and their livelihoods. It examines the challenges faced in disaster response and management, including geographic obstacles, resource limitations, and communication breakdowns. Furthermore, the paper highlights the environmental degradation resulting from these extreme weather events, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and improved preparedness strategies. By analyzing the complex interplay between climate change, local vulnerabilities, and disaster management, this study aims to provide insights into building resilience in Himachal Pradesh and mitigating the adverse impacts of cloud bursts in the future.
