Abstract

This research paper examines the implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in India, a long-standing constitutional directive aimed at replacing personal laws with a single, uniform code. Through a qualitative analysis, this study explores the historical evolution of UCC, its key components, and the challenges and opportunities associated with its implementation. The paper identifies religious and cultural opposition, gender justice, and minority rights as significant hurdles, while also highlighting the potential benefits of UCC, including promoting national integration, secularism, and gender equality. The study concludes with recommendations for implementing UCC, including building consensus, ensuring gender justice and minority rights, and gradual implementation. This research contributes to the ongoing debate on UCC in India, providing insights for policymakers, scholars, and stakeholders.
