Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) is an emerging paradigm that integrates environmental sustainability into traditional HR practices, aiming to promote eco-friendly behavior and values among employees. In the context of Indian companies, GHRM is increasingly recognized as a strategic tool to achieve corporate sustainability goals. This paper explores the role of GHRM in fostering environmental responsibility within organizations and examines how green HR practices—such as green recruitment, training, performance management, and rewards—contribute to sustainable business performance. Through a conceptual and contextual analysis, the study highlights the growing importance of aligning human capital strategies with ecological objectives in India. It also discusses the challenges in implementing GHRM and proposes strategies to strengthen its adoption. The findings suggest that effective GHRM not only enhances an organization's environmental performance but also improves employee engagement, brand image, and long-term competitiveness. As sustainability becomes a core business imperative, Indian organizations must embrace GHRM as a critical driver of change.
