EFFECT OF COMBINED ADMIXTURES AND FIBER REINFORCEMENT ON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE

Concrete is considered the most widely used construction material because of its versatility and durability, as well as its availability. However, the addition of fibers and chemical admixtures does provide an opportunity to strengthen its mechanical and durability properties. This paper examines the workability of combined admixtures with fiber reinforcement on the compressive strength of concrete, with a focus on synthesizing synthetic fibers, metal fibers, and cellulose fibers with various chemical admixtures. The aim of the research is to evaluate the synergy between fibers and admixtures in improving the compressive strength and performance of M35 grade concrete. The study involves a systematic mix design approach with variable proportions of fibers and combinations of plasticizers, superplasticizers, and supplementary cementitious materials. Experimental testing is carried out to determine the compressive strength at 28 days. Results are analyzed to understand how single and combined fibers affect the crack resistance, load- bearing capacity, and interaction between the fibers and chemical admixtures. The outcomes are helpful in developing optimal concrete mix design that ensures high performance, thus assisting in the creation of advanced concrete materials for sustainable and high-performance applications.
